Welcome,

I’m Husna.

I am a registered social worker and psychotherapist practicing on the traditional and unceded lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishinaabeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples, in what is now known as Toronto.

My focus as a trauma-informed therapist is on supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, with a special commitment to those from the Global Majority (BIPoC). My practice is inclusive and open to anyone who connects with my therapeutic approach.

I recognize that the decision to seek therapy can come from a place of pain, uncertainty, or a quest for deeper self-awareness and growth. I honor and respect whatever has guided you to this moment. You are warmly welcomed here, just as you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While psychotherapy and social work are regulated health professions in Ontario, they are unfortunately not covered under OHIP, OW or ODSP.

The majority of extended health benefits, however, do cover psychotherapy and social work services (typically in your health and dental insurance package from your employer). I encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a Registered Social Worker to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage. I do not reimburse sessions if it turns out you do not have coverage.

  • As of 2012, Psychotherapy services provided by a Registered Social Worker are recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.

  • All of us experience periods in our lives where we can use some help. Psychotherapy can help you gain a fresh perspective in order to better navigate the difficulties you’re facing - this can happen while you receive the necessary support throughout the process.

  • No. My services are virtual only.

  • I accept payment via credit card (including Visa debit). The online client portal which allows you to book appointments can also process credit card payments automatically for your convenience. If there is a preferred payment method that is not listed please reach out and I can do my best to accommodate.

  • A session is 50 minutes in duration. You decide what you want to focus on and explore during each session. What is said in our session is confidential. We discuss exactly what you want to get out of our time together and make a plan to achieve your goals. I work with you to bring your issues into focus so that they can be addressed in a non-judgmental and unconditionally supportive way.

My relationship with you is central to our work. I believe that the client-therapist relationship plays a fundamental role in the therapeutic process and successful outcome.

To get the most out of counseling, it’s helpful for you to maintain momentum in your sessions. With regularly set sessions, we can usually make progress faster than when our sessions are spread apart. In my experience, weekly sessions are the most productive. Some people feel that bi-weekly works for them. I honor and meet my clients where they are at.
